I have bronchitis. How can I be sure I don't have emphysema/copd?

I have had bronchitis for 5 weeks. Chest x-ray confirmed this but also showed Emphysema and COPD changes in bilateral lungs. Is this saying I do have this disease or maybe? Doctor is not convinced as I only smoke 4 to 5 cigarettes a day. My bronchitis is bad, never had this before, still have it. Its been 8 weeks now. I've goggled COPD and I'm very scared I am going to die. I have stopped smoking and I'm hoping the x-ray findings are wrong. Can an x-ray finding be mistaken for bad bronchitis not COPD? -
