Transient bone marrow oedema syndrome - what to do next?

I have been struggling with transient bone marrow oedema syndrome in my right foot for a year - I just woke up with it one day - there has been no specific trauma. It's affected my cuneiform, cuboid and talus in turn and I've recently been feeling the same pain in my left ankle. Each flare up has been conservatively managed with a moon boot and has resolved with time. But it's incredibly frustrating. My msk doctor has been awesome but we are limited with a lack of research on the topic. I was wondering if anyone has had much experience with this problem and if there is any information about a cause for this issue or where I should turn next?
