  • Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners

I have just been diagnosed with Adrenal Fatigue. What now?

I have had all the symptoms for about 10yrs if not earlier.

Why is this condition not recognised by general practitioners?

I know diet & relaxation therapy is important to the recovery.

Is there anything else I can do?

I am also taking natural therapies as well.

Adrenal fatigue is a label which is used by some practitioners of alternative and complementary medicine.

It is not a diagnosis which is used by evidence-based health professionals (for example, GPs) because there is no clinical evidence that it exists.

However (this is important and I am not meaning to invalidate your experiences), the vague signs of “adrenal fatigue” can indicate serious health problems which¬†practitioners of alternative and complementary medicine are not competent to diagnose or treat.

I suggest that you see your GP and ask for a full check-up. Depending on the results of that, s/he will be able to make a diagnosis and suggest evidence-based treatment.
