  • Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners

I have just been diagnosed with Adrenal Fatigue. What now?

I have had all the symptoms for about 10yrs if not earlier.

Why is this condition not recognised by general practitioners?

I know diet & relaxation therapy is important to the recovery.

Is there anything else I can do?

I am also taking natural therapies as well.

Adrenal fatigue is a label which is used by some practitioners of alternative and complementary medicine.

It is not a diagnosis which is used by evidence-based health professionals (for example, GPs) because there is no clinical evidence that it exists.

However (this is important and I am not meaning to invalidate your experiences), the vague signs of “adrenal fatigue” can indicate serious health problems which practitioners of alternative and complementary medicine are not competent to diagnose or treat.

I suggest that you see your GP and ask for a full check-up. Depending on the results of that, s/he will be able to make a diagnosis and suggest evidence-based treatment.
