What is the best treatment/ management of suspected stress fractures of sacrum?

I am 38 & have a prior history of back issues with degenerative discs in my lower spine, attributed to being a fast-bowling cricketer. Approximately 8 months ago I injured my back & was in considerable pain. My GP thought it was likely a strain or related to my existing problem, and an x-ray showed no new issues, so was told it would hopefully improve over time. After months of minimal improvement (approx 5 months post-injury) I had a bone scan which was somewhat inconclusive but suggested possible stress fractures of my sacrum. I was told a specialist would probably order an MRI to better identify if this is the correct diagnosis. Being a public patient I am on a long waiting list to see a specialist for their opinion, and I'm wondering is there anything I can do to help my condition in the meantime? I have been on Celebrex for years, take fish/krill oil, and recently started taking calcium. Because of a kidney condition my doctor was reluctant to prescribe other anti-inflammatories.
