What could have caused my inverted nipples?

I'm 49 and have been going through menopause since 2006. In the last 12months my nipples have become inverted and they don't have much feeling. Why could this be?

At 49? I guess one of the main concerns would be if there is an underlying cause or something like that. The first thing you would do is go to your general practitioner to book in for a mammogram and check what is happening.
