What are the correct foods for my aging parents

My parents are in their 70's, still living at home and fairly self sufficient and healthy. I want to ensure that they continue to age healthily, however i have noticed that they are opting for my convenient food options since my mother has stopped cooking home made meals. These options include packaged meals and processed foods. Are there any suggestions of what they should be eating given they are now looking for convenient options which take little preperation? Any help is appreciated!

Protein and fats are essential nutrients so you need to ensure that your parents are getting enough of these.  In developing countries a lack of these nutrients leads to serious health disorders and the body breaks down, if these aren't present in the diet.  Protein is found in eggs, meat, fish, lentils and beans, while fats are found in fish, nuts, seeds, olive, avocado and oils.  Carbohydrates are found in fruit and vegetables but these aren't essential nutrients meaning we can survive without them.  That being said they are a source of vital minerals and vitamins.
Heathfood shops have a product, which exists in powdered from, called LSA. (linseed, sunflower seeds and almonds)  This is an easily digestible user-friendly source of essential fats.  Extra virgin olive oil is another fat source that can be used as a salad garnish.  Which brings me to a practical suggestion for really showing your parents you care about them.
Purchase some beans, eggs, nuts, salad greens including spinach and broccoli, tomatoes, onions, avocado, carrots and extra virgin olive oil.  Take these to your parent's house and prepare a healthy salad containing all these ingredients with some oil thrown over the top.  Sitting down to a nutritious meal is a perfect way to lubricate a caring and mutually sustaining relationship.
