Does my husband need postoperative chemotherapy for rectal cancer?

My husband has recently had surgery to remove a rectal tumour. Post operative chemotherapy has been suggested but there has also been some mention that it's benefits are debatable. Is there any research on this? The margins were good and histopathology showed no sign of disease left. One lymph node was calcified which they “assume” contained cancer, but again path showed no sign of any remaining disease. -
