Whether a child or an adult, you should have your eyes examined at least every two years.  This is important whether you have symptoms or not.  Some degenerative changes which may not initially have obvious visual symptoms can be prevented if they are diagnosed early and regular eye checks will ensure this.  Older people, contact lens wearers, people with health conditions such as diabetes or rheumatoid arthritis, or those with a family history of eye disorders may require annual or even more frequent eye checks.
