Pterygia which are small, less than 2mm across the cornea (centre to edge usually 6mm or so) and not thick enough to interfere with blinking significantly can be treated with chilled ocular lubricants and wraparound 100% UV blocking sunglasses.
Larger, more unsightly, thicker pterygia that distort the cornea/threaten vision by growing over the pupil should be surgically removed by an ophthalmologist with specialist training in this area.
