The overall 5 year survival for pancreatic cancer (pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma) is less than 5% after diagnosis.  Surgery offers the only possible chance of cure, with a survival rate of 10-20% after removal.  Survival rates after surgery have not signicantly improved in the last 20-30 years, indicating an urgent need for better therapies.
