Do children with down syndrome need to go to special schools?

My beautiful grand duaghter was recently born with down syndrome and I would like to know if she will be able to attend a regular school when she grows up or if she will need a speicla school.

Hi My daughter is 12 she has attended both a mainstream school and a special ed unit. It will really depend on what her parents feel is the right fit for her and if choosing a mainstream school, how motivated and supportive that school chooses to be. It wont be worth mainstreaming her if the school arent interested in putting in the effort.
Best of luck and spoil your little darling!!!!
