Diabetes is a silent disease much like BP or cholesterol. It causes damage to blood vessels in your body. Complications can take 10-20 years to develop and treating diabetes then does not necessarily get rid of complications. The complications of diabetes can broadly be grouped into small vessel disease – eyes, kidney and nerve damage and large vessel disease – heart attacks, strokes and ulcers of the feet.
