How do I educate my community about epilepsy?

    Related Topic
Living in a country town, I want to educate people here about epilepsy. I haven’t really told anyone I have epilepsy but the seizures are getting worse, and I think it is time I started to tell people so they won’t be frightened and will know what to do. I am a bit worried about people’s reactions.

Telling people about your epilepsy for the first time is a very difficult thing to do. You want your privacy and freedom to be who you are without being judged. It’s a good idea to tell those close to you so they know and understand your condition, and what to do. At work you may only want to disclose to a select few. Living in a small town though, it is very tricky to have such privacy. Just remember, people may not understand what epilepsy is, but they are usually understanding.
