Many people who practice meditation support its ability to reduce seizures, while there are other people who have found that regular practice of meditation could in fact aggravate their seizures.

Meditation has been shown to generate synchronised firing of neurons in EEG studies, especially in limbic brain areas that are frequently involved in seizure generation. While unproven, there has been concern raised that the regular practice of inducing this neuronal hypersynchrony by meditation could, in theory, raise the risk of seizures.

This subject is still controversial and there are no extensive studies completed to prove or disprove this theory. For many people, they find meditation calming and a good way to manage stress, which ultimately helps to manage their seizures. If you find that meditation makes you feel unusual or likely to have a seizure, then it is best not to practice it.
