Is it normal for splint to leave out wisdom teeth?

    Related Topic
My teeth are not closing properly after wearing my night guard for consecutive days. My dentist said my teeth are misaligning and that I need to do Invisalign + retainer to fix it all. Quoted me approx $8k AUD.

I went to another dentist today to get a second opinion and she says that the issue has been caused by the night guard the other dentist made me. It doesn't cover all of my teeth and leaves the wisdom teeth out. This has caused my wisdom teeth to "super erupt" because they want to meet when I'm wearing my guard so have come out further to meet. But that means when I take my guard off, now only my back teeth touch because they've erupted further.

The new dentist says we can either shave the wisdom teeth down or remove them and then make a new night guard... Nothing about Invisalign and quoted closer to $1.5k AUD.

It has absolutely shocked me that my original dentist did this. Is it normal for a night guard to be made without including the wisdom teeth?
