    Type 2 diabetes treatment

I have recently been diagnosed with T2D and done some research. The University of Newcastle in the UK have done extensive trials and research on weight loss and diabetes using a very low calorie diet and have discovered a large fast weight loss can actually "reverse" T2D. I have also looked at a ketogenic diet. My concern is my doctor does not understand these strategies and the side effects of a keto diet and simply prescribe more medications due to high blood sugar that can initially result as the body changes. What issues are there in taking these on? Where can I find a doctor that will assist and monitor without an immediate turn to medication?
