    Advice for Hidradenitis suppurativa

Hi, I'm 26/F and have been to a dermatologist and have been diagnosed with HS on my buttocks, armpits and groin, I was put on Amacin twice daily and encouraged to exercise more and quit smoking. She suggested that it was due to hormone imbalance but I don't have any other hormonal problems, everything else is normal. What I'd like is some advice on alternative treatments, I'm terrible at taking tablets, the exercise is fine and I'm very slowly quitting smoking. So far tablets have worked, but I have a feeling it'll come back if I don't use them regularly. Would birth control implants etc help at all? People I know have used the pill to control their acne, not sure if they're similar in the right way? Also any advice on scarring? most of it has started to fade after 3months use but still some dark spots. PS I haven't been able to go back yet because it's extremely hard to get an appointment there! :(
