What is the best treatment to stop vertigo?

Ok, 4 months ago at work, deep sounds came through phone headset which was very painful. Internet & phone faults that day. Pain got worse and whirling sound constant in that ear. Saw a GP, and whirling sound was tinnitus but tinnitus shouldn't cause that kind of pain. Vertigo episodes started but seemed to ease after 5-6 weeks. Then had MRI. Alarms and siren noises started the pain again. Vertigo episodes started more frequently again. They are random, no common activity before it starts. Occurs when walking, turning, sitting, lying down. Often vomiting straight away. Stemetil helps control the nausea but doesn't stop the vertigo. Tinnitus now is still there but not as loud, not painful. Sirens or alarms set the pain off again and vertigo increases. Can acupuncture or hypnotherapy treat and cure vertigo? I'm at the end of my tether now. Will try anything. Hearing in that ear is somewhat less, can that imbalance set off this vertigo? How can the vertigo be fixed?
