If you make an appointment to see your GP, depending on your mental health concerns, they will be able to write you a Mental Health Care Plan. This will entitle you to up to 10 Sessions with a Registered Psychologist and is medicare rebated. Alternatively, if you have private health cover then you will need to speak with them about whether you can claim, it will depend on your insurer and level of cover. This of course is if you want to go privately. Depending on what your needs are there are a number of low cost and some free counselling services (including phone support) as a starting point. Best to start with your GP for some advice on what service you need. Hope this helps.
