My sister and I have completed paperwork for joint Power of Attorney for both our Mother and Father. I have been told that these papers do not become legal and are not in effect until my mother (who has Alzheimers) has been certified by a Geriatrician even though the paperwork has been signed by a JP.
Is this correct, and do we need to take her to see a Geriatrician yet again to get some sort of certification letter? She was diagnosed by a Geriatrician 5 years ago.
