During my recent hysterectomy, endometriosis was found and some remains on my bowel. As I am, and always have been, asymptomatic for endometriosis, I am trying to decide if pre-emptive management with Implanon is a sensible course of action, or if I do not undertake any management unless I start experiencing problems. I am 42. Is there any information available about the likelihood of known asymptomatic endometriosis progressing and causing problems? Does treatment of asymptomatic endometriosis with hormones always stop it from progressing and causing future problems?
