Can I have memory loss after a surgery?

I had two major surgeries in an 18 month period. The first was in 2013 when I was 47. It was an emergency quite traumatic for me. No health issues prior. I am convinced that my memory has not been the same since. I have read about short term memory loss after surgery, but not much about long term effects. Any ideas? Anything I can do? -
