  • Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners

How to approach and interact with depressed and angry husband?

My husband is clinically depressed and refuses treatment. He lacks insight into his depression despite being a medical doctor, believing that treatment will not help. I have not seen my husband for 6 weeks. He and i agreed that he needed space and when he is ready he will come back. If anything he seems more angry and depressed and emotionally unpredictable, becoming verbally abusive at times. Divorce has become a recurring topic between us. He wont receive any treatment or counselling. What do i do to help him? I am a doctor myself and looking after my mental well-being well enough. Can you please advise..many thanks!
