Can eyesight deteriorate after major surgery?

I had major abdominal surgery in January to remove part of my colon. It was an emergency procedure.

I have since noticed a deterioration in my eyesight. I didn't think it was related to the surgery until I found other people who reported poorer eyesight following the same procedure.

    is it just a coincidence?
