How can I find help for bipolar?

I can't get any doctor to help me with bipolar. I've had depression for nearly 15 years and it's got to the point where if I didn't have my husband and kids, I would rather be in heaven.

It's just getting to hard. I'm am ok for like nearly 2 weeks then it's like my world crashes around me. I've even stopped drinking coke and coffee.

And I've also lost almost ten kegs with still more to lose. I'm scared and so fed up with the way I feel… Please help, annemaree

Once you have been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder appropriate help is available. There are lots of people with this illness living a successful and productive life. However you will need support. Since this condition may create severe mood swings you will need a psychiatrist who could assist with the appropriate medication for you. Due to individual differences it may take a little while to fine tune your medication regime but it will help you to lift your low mood states and/or curb your manic state. However due to the possibly distabilizing effect of this illness you will also need a psychologist to assist you managing/ organizing your daily activities. If you contact a psychologist on this service, or the APS's Find a Psychologist service you will be able to receive the most appropriate help for you. I do recommend that for the best outcome you see a psychiatrist as well as a psychologist alternatively, In addition you could access your area community health/mental health centres or in an emergency your community help and welfare services 24 hour emergency numbers i.e. Lifeline 131114.
