    How fast can endometriosis re-form?

I have recently had an operation in which a large amount of endometriosis was removed and my doctor believed all or almost all of it was removed.
This was four months ago and I am having the same pains again.
I didn't get the chance to ask my doctor during our last visit so I though I would ask here.
I am fairly sure that it can re-form I am just curious as to how fast this may occur.

Generally we would expect at least 24-36 months of symptom relief before thinking about repeat excision of disease if it has reformed. 4 months is definitely too short if it was completely excised. Sometimes this may not have been the case as endometriosis can be quite subtle in it's appearance on occasion. In my practice for someone who is not trying to conceive immediately, we would always use the oral contraceptive or a Mirena IUD following excision of endometriosis to try and stop this recurrence of pain you seem to be experiencing.
