Research your local care facilities. Have your grandparents been assessed as to what level of care would be needed. eg low care or high care or even self care in a facility?. It is a very difficult situation. Phone the facilities you may be interested in and speak to the Director of Nursing. If you feel comfortable with what you have been told then request an appointment. Also include your grandparents in the decision making if they are able.
When you visit the facility look around to see how clean they are. Observe the other people living there. You will get a feel for the place.
Speak to your local aged care assessment team.
I wish you the best of luck as it is a tricky time for all concerned.
