    I am pregnant. Can my STD affect my baby?

    I have chlamydia which I caught from a previous sexual partner. I am now pregnant and want to know if this will affect the baby in any way?

    Yes.  If left untreated, a maternal chlamydial infection can cause neonatal conjunctivitis and/or trachoma. It can be treated by 7 - 14 days of erythromycin. Other ‘STD’s that can have an affect on unborn and new born babies are herpes, HIV and syphilis.
