    Need help for elderly lady in Newcastle NSW

    Can anyone recommend an eye doctor in Newcastle NSW? I was talking on the phone today with an elderly lady who was pleading with me to find her some help, as she has recently gone blind and has no family close by to help her. She desperately wants to see an eye doctor who can at least diagnose her problem and mabey help her.

    I work in a call centre and called her by chance. I told her I would find a doctor for her.

    Hi Tania, eye specialists require a referral to be able to see them to qualify for Medicare rebates. The first “port of call” is to see an Optometrist who will undertake an eye health check and refer on as required.
