I have an endoscopy and colonoscopy every 4 years

Conversation started by issy

I have an endoscopy and colonoscopy every 4 years. I have been having them for the last  15 years and this time they found cancerous cells in one of the polyps they removed. I was fortunate that they removed it and it had not spread. If I had waited or not had the colonoscopy I would have developed bowel cancer.

I will now go every 12 months for a colonoscopy and encourage everyone to have a colonoscopy.

  • Its very true to look after ourselves.  After my diagnosis and surgery, i encouraged my husband to have a colonoscopy , he is 57 and two doctors have said to him if you have no symptoms they wont refer for a colonoscopy.  I DIDN'T HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS EITHER!  I did have a family history and therefore on my third try found a doctor who would give me a referral for a colonoscopy.  I was 52.  Reply to this post  |  Report
