    Medical meniscus tear symptoms:

    • Pain on the inner side of the knee

    • Pain when squatting

    • Mild or delayed swelling

    • Area over the inner knee joint will be tender to touch

    • Clicking or catching: A sensation that something is getting caught inside the joint during movement

    Lateral meniscus tear symptoms:

    • Pain on the outer side of the knee

    • Significant and rapid swelling

    • Area on the outer knee joint will be tender to touch

    • “Shift” or “give way” sensation: A feeling of instability, as if the knee might buckle

    • Pain with twisting: Pivoting on the affected leg will often cause sharp, localised pain.
