Liver tumours are often discovered incidentally on imaging performed for other reasons. Diagnosis typically involves a combination of high-quality CT or MRI scanning, blood tests including tumour markers, and discussion at a specialist multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting. A biopsy is sometimes required but is often unnecessary when imaging characteristics are definitive.
