Unfortunately, the bathroom can be a dangerous place if a seizure happens – small room, hard floors and slippery surfaces – a lot of potential for injury. Here are a few options that may help:

    • Sing in shower so your mum knows you are OK. It doesn’t matter if you can’t sing!

    • Remove the normal door and fit sliding doors, so that it can still be opened if you fall against it.

    • There is a door called a Rescue Door https://ilcaustralia.org.au/products/5116 that can be installed. It allows an interior door to be opened in an alternative direction should the door become obstructed preventing it from being opened in its normal direction.

    • A baby monitor may also be useful if you make any noise during a seizure.
