    The complications that can occur after parathyroid surgery would have been discussed prior to your surgery with your surgeon. Assuming you have not had any complications when you had your parathyroid taken out, there should not be any long-term effects.

    You should follow up with your GP or surgeon for ongoing monitoring of your remaining parathyroid gland.
