Thyroid nodules - surgery or maintenance?

I have a lump on the right side of my neck and 2 heterogeneous nodules with calcifications of approximately 2 cm in diameter were found. Officially it's multinodular goitre and mild Graves' disease. All blood tests (thyroid hormones) seem to be within normal range. The biopsy results were "inconclusive" from the pathologist and "negative" from the doctor. Can I insist on removal of these nodules or will an endocrinologist only operate if the biopsy result is malignant? I know that the main argument against surgery is post-operative complications. If nodules are "outside" the lobe, is it possible to just remove the nodules and not half of the thyroid gland? Is robotic surgery really more accurate? Or is it just for people who want to avoid having a scar on the neck? Which do you think is safer?
