My daughter recently had an ear infection, though there was no fever. She only had pain in her ear for a few hours followed by a brown discharge the next day. My GP said her eardrum had ruptured but has now healed perfectly. But since last week, I have noticed that my daughter can't hear low decibel sounds. GP said she might need to have grommets inserted but she doesn't have any speech problems. In fact, she speaks very well for her age. Won't the ear infections go away by the age of 5? Should I wait and watch?
