    Always feel nervous, panic attacks, depression, feel isolated.

    I have massive trouble with anxiety, panic attacks, worry, can't make decisions, feel depressed and feel isolated, and socially inept. I have had treatments and medications from psychologists and a psychiatrist, but nothing helps much, the only medicine I have had that really seems to help is valium. My current GP and the one before him both belittle my anxiety and depression and tell me if I wanted to get better I would, which makes me leave the Dr's office feeling like crap. They also threaten to stop writing scripts for the valium which the psychiatrist told me to keep taking because it was the only medicine that helped. I have read other people saying go for a walk but when I go for a walk all I do is start worrying about things and I feel worse than before the walk. I feel so bad I have thoughts that I shouldn't have every day, I live alone and have no friends, I am hopeless at talking to people, I am trying to return to work after years out and it is not going well, I just want to crawl into a hole.

    It sounds like you are caught in a difficult trap - if you believe that nothing will help much, then you will not be motivated to seek further help. Unfortunately getting the right help usually requires some 'trial and error' - finding the right psychologist or counsellor who is a good fit for you, and/or medical treatment. Perhaps you can start with one small step - promising yourself you will try just one new thing each week, to see if it may help. It may be a strategy a professional has suggested, following up a referral for treatment, or simply experimenting with different ways of improving the day. If going for a walk keeps your mind free to worry, perhaps try something that demands your full attention and focus. If you keep trying, you may just find the strategy, or combination of strategies, that is just right for you, and may make a difference. All the best.
