What is the best treatment for smelly scalp / hair?

    Related Topic
My 10yr old son wakes in the morning with a foul smelling scalp, sometimes you can smell if from the hallway before entering his room. He has good personal hygiene. We eat a fairly balanced diet and he drinks plenty of water throughout the day and night. He sleeps hot and sweats at night even with light clothing and covers / no covers, his body does not smell. His skin overall is naturally dry and is sensitive to certain products, no serious reaction. His scalp is not red, inflamed, irritated or dry, he does not have dandruff. It's definitely his scalp, when I rub his hair with my fingers there is no smell, but when I rub his scalp that is definitely the source. I have recently purchased the Tea Tree Plantation shampoo and conditioner to see if this works, previously he was using a kids shampoo or other supermarket/chemist brands. Would this be a fungal, bacterial or yeast type of condition? If so, should we be looking at tests, diet change, certain products/treatment? Thanks
