  • Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners

How to break the cycle from nausea to seizure?

The patient is 20 and female. She has been suffering severe nausea and vomiting going without food and drink for several days since she was very young. For about the last 7 years this has been precipitated by severe long lasting seizures sometime tonic clonic. She often spends periods of time in hospital that only deal with symptom stabilizing and rehydration. We would all love this to stop or at least find some way of treating these issues. So far we have not found any medications that alleviate or control either the nausea/vomiting or the seizures. These events are quite random but are really quite severe when they occur. Does anyone have any ideas please?
