  • Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners

My daughter has severe symptoms of thyroid problem with normal TSH. What can we do?

My daughter is 21. Out of no where, she began experiencing, debilitating dizziness, breathlessness, racing heart which was confirmed via a holter monitor, blurred vision, eyes that feel like they're bulging, increased hunger, chronic bacterial tonsillitis, extreme fatique, daily panic attacks, she says she feels shaky on the inside as well. She feels very unwell and is confined to a chair or the bed. This has come out of no where and she is a healthy girl otherwise. The only thing she has that is out of the ordinary is hives, which were diagnosed when she was 12. They were pretty severe and she had facial swelling as well. They went away on their own when she got her period a year later. But they returned when she was 16. Her GP won't have any of it and tells her there's nothing wrong. Her thyroid function test is normal, her T3 and T4 levels are within the normal range but her antibodies are sky high. Please help we're desperate. Her Uni work is suffering and she may have to drop out.
