Raspberry ketone is a component of red raspbery.  The evidence that this substance helps with fat burning comes form experimental work performed on rats and fat cells. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?term=raspberry%20ketones Essentially this research shows that this substance promotes fat buring and limits the accumulation of fat.  Translating this experimental reasearch into clinical trials involving humans has yet to happen.

    I agree with Dr Elstein.

The PubMed link that he has provided shows that studies of raspberry ketone have been carried out using experimental animals and cells grown in cell culture.

These are what are called “surrogate outcomes” - they say absolutely nothing about the possible benefits of raspberry ketone for people until and if the results of well-designed clinical trials are available.

A quick Google shows that there are many alternative/complementary Web sites which have “shops” where people can buy raspberry ketone. Please don't use those shops.
