    Certain types of gastritis may lead to changes in the lining of the stomach which may predispose a person to pre-cancer or cancer.  This is however rare.  

    Also importantly, gastritis may be associated or seen with other conditions such as Coeliac disease (lymphocytic gastritis) or even Crohn's disease.  In this instance the gastritis is a consequence of another medical condition that may have other connotations or require separate treatment.
