It is the most common and effective non-surgical treatment for Grade 1 to 3 internal haemorrhoids that cause persistent bleeding, prolapse, or discomfort that has not responded to conservative measures such as dietary changes, increased fibre intake, and topical treatments. It is not suitable for external haemorrhoids.
