    No - you can book directly with a psychologist at any time. A Mental Health Care Plan from your GP gives you access to Medicare rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year, which reduces your out-of-pocket cost. If you'd prefer to start privately, or your sessions are funded another way (such as WorkCover or CTP), you don't need one. If you're not sure which path fits, mention it when you enquire and we'll point you in the right direction.
