Proximal humerus fractures occur in the upper part of the arm bone (humerus), just below the shoulder joint. They’re particularly common in older adults with osteoporosis after falls, but can also occur in younger people from high-energy trauma. Fractures are classified based on the number of bone fragments and displacement.
