Liver tumours may be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). Common benign tumours include haemangiomas, focal nodular hyperplasia, and hepatic adenomas, most of which do not require treatment. Malignant tumours include primary liver cancers such as hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma, as well as secondary cancers (metastases) that have spread from other organs, most commonly the bowel.
