Melioidosis is a tropical infection caused by Burkholderia pseudomallei found in soil and water. Symptoms can mimic pneumonia, sepsis, or TB. People with diabetes, kidney disease, or heavy soil exposure are higher risk. Early diagnosis saves lives — especially during the wet season.
