ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It affects how the brain manages attention, self-control, and activity levels. Children and adults with ADHD may: ■ Find it hard to focus or may get easily distracted ■ Feel restless or fidgety ■ Act before thinking (impulsive) This is not because they are lazy or 'naughty' — their brain is simply wired differently. With the right support and sometimes medication, children with ADHD can thrive.
