A robotic partial nephrectomy is a precise “kidney-sparing” operation where only the tumour is removed, while the rest of the kidney is preserved. In many cases, it is possible to save the kidney rather than removing the entire organ, which is vital for long-term health and kidney function. I have performed many hundreds of these operations, using the robot to carefully remove the cancer while protecting healthy tissue. Patients usually recover faster, with less pain and shorter hospital stays compared to traditional open surgery.
