Thyroid nodules are lumps that form within the thyroid gland. They are very common and usually not cancerous. Most people don’t have symptoms, and nodules are often found during a routine exam or scan. Depending on the size and appearance of the nodule, further testing such as an ultrasound or fine needle biopsy may be recommended. Most nodules don’t require treatment, but regular monitoring helps ensure they remain stable and benign.
